Marjorie Virginia Griffith (Dorsey), a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in West Grove, Pennsylvania on August 5th, 1953, she was the youngest daughter of John Henry Jackson and Enid Dorsey. She attended and graduated from Avon Grove high school.

In 1974, Marji married the love of her life, Marshall Griffith, and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Together they built a life of over 50 years full of joy, music, dancing, family, food, and faith — a love that was a testament to how two people from different worlds could create a beautiful, lasting connection that inspired all who knew them. Marji and Marshall raised a family of three: Howard (Emelyn, Bedford, OH), Madrenna (Macedonia, OH), Manisha (Ricardo, Maple Heights, OH) and one granddaughter Charissa (Nassau, Bahamas).

In 1976, Marji dedicated herself to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, becoming a footstep follower of Jesus Christ. Marji lived a life rooted in faith, family, and purpose, guided always by her unwavering love and devotion to Jehovah God as she followed in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. She led with love because she never met a stranger, often sending cards, texts, and letters of encouragement to anyone in need of a cheerful uplift or scriptural thought.

Marji worked for the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company/Centerior Energy, where she belonged to the Speakers Bureau, doing public speaking, and the Women’s Association, organizing large employee events for many years before leaving after taking a “buy out.” During that time, she also worked part-time as a salesperson and presenter for Aloette Cosmetics, hosting home parties that she truly loved. She excelled in the role, became well known and made many lifelong friends along the way.

After leaving Centerior Energy, Marji pivoted her career into research, interviewing people and gathering statistical data for medical and government studies until she retired from the University of Chicago. She was known for extending herself in the care of others — if someone needed help, she made it her mission to see that they were cared for. She even became a long-term care ombudsman in Summit County, advocating for nursing home residents, visiting those who called on her and speaking on their behalf.

To Marji, family was everything — not extended, just family — and she dedicated her life to keeping that bond of love alive and thriving with family and friends. (Col. 3:14)

She is survived by her husband of 52 years Marshall Griffith, and her older brothers, Hugh (Harrisburg, PA) and Stephen (Mary, Milpitas, CA). She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Enid, and by her siblings Robert (Carolyn, Hinesville, GA) and Mary (Herman) White.
